Since 1994, Pave-Tar Construction Ltd., has performed road construction operations for many municipalities throughout the GTA. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to expand our Winter Operations Team from December 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2019.

What you will need:

  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Experience with winter operations.
  • Must be able to work inclement weather, outdoors.
  • Abiltiy to operate a motor grader, farm tractor, loaders.
  • On call 24 hrs per day, 7 days a week.
  • Experience is perferred. Willing to train.
  • Very competitive wages will apply on standby and hourly operational rates.

Job Description

Document Control Specialist


Responsibilities:

  • Building the document control processes and tool sets for the office.
  • Mentoring co-workers/team members on the document control processes.
  • Establishing work priorities and objectives to meet tight deadlines.
  • Receiving material into the system through direct contact with site construction managers.
  • Participating in planning, and successful implementation of special requests made by Manager/Project Managers including special information needs such as the need to extract information from documents e.g. extracts list of project materials and provides to engineering.
  • Taking part in the RFP/bidding process.
  • Preparing spreadsheets of bid evaluations.
  • Developing and maintains ongoing effective liaison with internal customers, including management regarding project requirements.
  • Compiling statistical records of services provided including the amount of time required to process/produce documents.
  • Assisting the Cost Controller in verifying vendor/subcontractor invoices and maintaining an up-to-date invoice register.
  • Taking part in the preparation of client return data files.
  • Preparing and issuing status reports for both internal and external clients.
  • Creating document control processes and ensuring that they are being followed.
  • Arranging and attending meetings.
  • Drafting, formatting and generating a variety of correspondence.
  • Filing and/or scanning various project documents (paper and electronic files).
  • Visits to work sites to ensure proper documentation is taking place.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Candidates must possess leadership qualities.
  • A minimum of one (2) years of administrative or support experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, Power Point, Adobe, and B2W software.
  • Experience in the use of databases and electronic file management software.
  • A willingness to learn new skills to add to document management expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Strong organizational and ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
  • Experience in document control or records management is a MUST.
  • Experience in a technical or engineering environment is a MUST.

Possess excellent organizational skills, aptitude for detailed work with a high level of accuracy, and ability to maintain a high production level in order to ensure timely return of work requests to customers. This includes organizing the flow of incoming documents.

Job Description

Construction Project Co-coordinator (Civil)


This position is with a well-established, long standing Civil Construction (Road Building and Winter Maintenance) contractor.  Project support through start-up, construction and close-out, assisting Project Managers, Site Superintendents and Chief Estimator.


Responsibilities:

  • Compiling information from bid documents for preparation of start-up packages for field staff.
  • Supporting Chief Estimator with estimating and take-off to aid in bid preparation and submission.
  • Drawing review and distribution.
  • Bid delivery.
  • Reviewing quotations in preparation for issuing of Purchase Orders to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • On-going support for Project Managers and Superintendents for day-to-day project activities.
  • Preparation of Change Orders/Extras for invoicing purposes.
  • Job close-out support through coordination of subcontractors and close-out documentation, distribution and organizing of same.
  • Visit to job sites to ensure all company policies are being followed.
  • Use project scheduling and cost control tools to monitor project plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures
  • Review field inspection reports

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years? experience construction industry
  • Degree or Diploma in Architectural Sciences, Civil Engineering/Construction Management or combined field experience
  • Proficiency with MS Project and/or B2W and the MS Office Suite of products
  • Knowledge of the road building and maintenance industry
  • Familiarity with construction methods
  • Valid Ontario Driver?s License and personal vehicle for use traveling to site
  • Professional team player
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop relationships with clients and site staff
  • Ability to engage with diverse range of staff, skill sets, and personalities
